Learning objectives:
This quick tour provides a brief introduction to the EBI's metabolomics resource: MetaboLights.
https://www.ebi.ac.uk/training/online/course/metabolights-quick-tour-0
MetaboLights consists of two distinct layers:
1) a repository, enabling the metabolomics community to share findings, data and protocols for any form of metabolomics study;
2) a reference layer of curated knowledge about metabolite structures and their reference spectra, as well as their biological roles, locations, concentrations, and raw data from metabolic experiments.
The effectiveness of metabolomic profiling methods depends on the availability of public open data across a broad range of experimental methods and conditions. The MetaboLights repository seeks to fulfil this requirment. MetaboLights is specifically designed to build on prior art and to extensively collaborate with the existing databases, ensuring that data are exchanged and that assimilation efforts target gaps in the knowledge available worldwide.
EMBL-EBI EMBO Practical Course on Metabolomics Bioinformatics for Life Scientists -All course content available online
This course will provide an overview of key issues that affect metabolomics studies, handling dataset and procedures for the analysis of metabolomics data using bioinformatics tools. It will be delivered using a mixture of lectures, computer-based practical sessions and interactive discussions. The course will provide a platform for discussion of the key questions and challenges in the field of metabolomics, from study design to metabolite identification

Offers training in the techniques of both liquid-chromatography mass spectrometry (LC-MS) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy in the field of metabonomics, metabolomics and metabolic profiling; the basics of LC-MS and NMR, and data analysis of large sample sets using statistical techniques such as PCA and O2-PLS.
Workshop on metabolomics data processing, Steno Diabetes Center, Gentofte, Denmark
https://steno.dk/en/omsteno_areapagelvl2/Nyheder/UK/Tackling%20major%20dataset%20in%20metabolomics
The aim of the workshop was to introduce and discuss (1) state-of-the-art tools for metabolomics data processing, (2) emerging standards related to data exchange and software development tools, and (3) the key challenges in this field. A hands-on workshop on the use of the popular open source package MZmine will also be given by the current developers of the software.
